The Silicon Dream – Part Two

“Banaange, what are you looking at?!!!” asked Thema.

All along my mind had gone back to where I was standing, waiting for Thema when she appeared with that amazing cat walk which could give Naomi Campbell a run for her money.

This time I had got her off guard although she seemed inquisitive.

I had seen her enjoy the Ethiopian meal menacingly which meant, she was really hungry when she forgot to greet me.

As usual, the ‘Banaange’ needed answers or explanations from me.

She continued to demand for an explanation.

I started, “Looking at you ma babe.”

She gazed at me…

I continued, “Today you have appeared in style, you’ve added a kilo or two. I’ve never seen you look this elegant, dear. You have broken me down.”

She smiled that smile I have only seen with Julia Roberts. I loved the way her eyes sparkled with confidence. She smelt as fresh as a rose.

Feeling fresh myself, I felt like holding her close. I was drawn by this intimate connection.

She breathed in and then out.

As I was preparing myself to go through the ordeal of telling her what it was I was looking at, there was an interlude during which the Queen’s clock said, ‘8:00 p.m.”

It sounded romantic….dooong….dooong….doong.

Unfortunately, it reminded her of her favourite TV show.

The sound was piercing the horizon of our Cartoon East African city.

We were on top of a new building overlooking town from Old Kampala.

The usual traffic had dwindled. The air had begun clearing up. The carbon fumes from second hand Japanese cars were being neutralised by the cool breeze blowing in from Lake Victoria.

We could see the stadium standing out from all structures in the city. The floodlights whose service I hear a certain colonel from North Africa had paid for sixty days to Umeme were doing their task perfectly. It was like day time.

By this time, I was seeing my Silicon Dream come live. My favourite full moon was lighting the horizon of our city from the East at 45 degrees above us.

I was having quality time, I could feel she had realised so with the glances she was romantically stealing at me because she knew what a full moon meant to me especially at that time.

Instinctively, I used this opportunity to unleash the binding matter.

So hypnotised by the deep Rocky Balboa voice from me, my babe dropped this assuring statement, “For me,” she started, “I am not in love with you.”

Silicon Dreams – Part One

It was 5:30 p.m and I was in downtown Kampala. The bodas were prying their routes as usual and the cyclists were busy criss-crossing the streets as the batembeyis were trying to sell their last merchandise of the day.

Saawa meka?’ asked a Nubian lady selling roasted groundnuts, simsim and sweets in a kibo.

As I looked around, she emerged from the left. I could make her out from human traffic heading towards me. She looked elegant that evening, clad in her blue trouser and top.

She walked like one coming from a cat walk class.

‘Where has she been today?’

This time she looked bigger and I was surprised that for the first time she saw me before I saw her.

Before I could figure out everything about her, she had cut me off and was saying hi.

I held her hand and we walked away to our secret rendezvous.

Sweetie:Hey, Pendo! Did you have a good time with Jack yesterday?
Pendo: Which Jack, my cousin?
Sweetie: Oh, come on, Pendo. You don’t have to pretend…

She grabs me and kisses me on the lips.

Pendo: I think I should go now, Chris.
Sweetie: (with an exaggerated sweetness in her tone) Oh, no! Please, do not go away on my account
Me: Shall we go in and have a drink?
Sweetie: Chris, let’s not force Pendo to join us if she doesn’t want to… (she winds her arms around me and kisses me)
Pendo: Hmmm!
Sweetie: Oh, dear. Looks like someone is cross.
Pendo: No, Sweetie. I just love the way you two are making out in front of me.
Sweetie: Well, dear. What do you expect? He is my boyfriend.
Pendo: I hope this time you will be serious. Seeing as you were so quick to dump Chris’ brother.
Sweetie (Moving towards Pendo) What did you just say?
Pendo (looking at Sweetie directly into her eyes): Don’t tell me you are now deaf?
Sweetie: The problem with you is that you always go out with other people’s men. You snatched Jack from Nankya and now you want to do the same with me.

At this point, I had to stop Pendo from hitting Sweetie hard on the face.

Me: Enough, ladies. Please.
Pendo: Its fine, Chris. She’s not worth my time. Enjoy your ****

Before I could do anything to stop them, they were at each other’s necks fighting and hurling insults at each other. My neighbours came out of their houses one by one to watch as I sneaked into my house.

I sat by myself in a dark corner of a restaurant.
“Chris?”

I looked up to see who was calling me and was surprised to find that it was Pendo, Sweetie’s friend. Today her eyes were warm and beautiful. She had pulled her long hair back but she looked great. She wore a cream top cut very low to reveal her breasts and a black skirt that showed her round figure.

“Pendo! How nice to see you! Would you like to join me for a drink?”
“Yes. Krest.”

As we waited for her drink, I felt nervous. ‘What if Sweetie found us? And why am I feeling drawn to her now?’ I thought.

“How is work?” Pendo asked.
“Hectic.”

Pendo smiled at me and I felt weak. I sipped on my Krest quickly. I looked at my watch. Pendo kept her smile on.

“You are smart today.”
“Thank you,” I said.
“No wonder you are a sportsman.”
“Why?”
“You have kabode.” The way she said it made my stomach flip. I looked at her chest and felt confused.
“Do you have plans for tonight?”
“Not really.”
“Good. Can I take you out? But first I need to pass by my house and change.”
“It’s fine,” she said.

I drove her to my house and guess who we found standing at my door?

Sweetie.

How to Get Her

I watched Pendo across the table as she took a sip of her lemon drink. I could feel Mimi, Nankya and Sweetie’s eyes on me but I ignored them.

Pendo looked up, as though sensing that I was watching her. Then meeting my eyes, she looked away.

I smiled and kept my gaze on her. Then I noticed her becoming tense as Sweetie looked at me with sultry, provocative eyes. I tried to ignore her as she ran her tongue over her sensuous lips.

“So ladies, tell me…what do you do?” I asked trying to start a conversation.

Mimi was the first to speak. She said she was a human resource manager. Nankya was an administrative assistant. As Pendo began talking to me, Sweetie got up and came to where I was seated.

She wound her arms around my neck and whispered into my ears.

“It’s getting late. We need to get going.”
“Ladies, Sweetie tells me I should let you go home now. Do you agree?”
“Thank you for the evening, Chris. But I think she is right. It’s getting late,” Pendo said.

I offered to drive them home. Mimi, Nankya and Pendo got onto the back seat as Sweetie sat beside me.

Drama ensued after I had dropped off Mimi and Nankya at Kamwokya. You see, Pendo lived in Ntinda while Sweetie’s house was in Bukoto and that meant that I would have to drop off Sweetie first before Pendo.

“Chris, I think you can drop off Pendo first in Ntinda and drop me last since we both stay in Bukoto,” Sweetie said obviously not wanting me to remain alone with Pendo.

My attempts to get her jealous were working.

Good.

“No, Sweetie. Let me drop you off at Bukoto and then Pendo and I will go to Ntinda. Besides, I’m not sleeping at Bukoto tonight. I’m staying over at a friend’s in Ntinda.”
“Is it a woman?”
“And if it is?”
“Well, good for you.”
“Do I get the impression that you’re ticked about it?”
“Me?” Sweetie said, forcing a smile. “I’m not.”

By this time, we were already in Bukoto. I pulled over to the side of the road so that she could get off.

“Chris…there is something I need to tell you. Can we talk about it over coffee at my house tonight?” Sweetie asked with a musical lilt in her voice that made me go weak.
“Is it that important?” I said trying to be cool.
“Yes, it is,” she said in a whisper.

With that, she had won.

We dropped off Pendo in Ntinda and then I headed for Bukoto together with her.

The next morning, I found myself lying on her bed. I don’t know how it happened because one minute we were talking and the next…

How to Get a Free Hug from Her

I saw her yesterday!

She was standing with her friends who had come to cheer.

My team had won and I had scored the first two goals.

As I was still debating on whether to go and say hi to her, she ran and hugged me.

“Thank you for not letting us down,” she said.
“Oh, well. It was nothing, really,” I said smiling at her.

Strolling beside me, we went to where her friends were standing. She introduced me to Pendo, Nankya and Mimi.

I asked them out this weekend and they agreed.

I cannot wait. I intend to make her jealous by paying more attention to her friends when I take them out. I will secretly ask Pendo for her number. She is bound to tell her friends about it and Sweetie will not like it.

Well, of course there is a chance that Sweetie might not act jealous but I know her type. She will be. Trust me. She cannot stand a man she knows has it for her getting over it and going for her friend even if she is not interested.

Why Sweetie, Why?

How do I tell her I do not feel for her the way she feels for me without hurting her? Yes, she is good in bed. I love making love to her but that is where it ends. I cannot settle down with her.

Sometimes I feel guilty for using her but the way she throws herself at me. She knows just where to find me and when to get me.

The other day she found me brooding over Sweetie who is now going out with my brother. I was vulnerable and she was wearing this skimpy dress that held her in all the right places.

Damn Sweetie! Why did you have to go behind my back like that just when I thought you and I had a chance together?

It is me who should be holding you, feeling you, touching you, listening to you for I love your smooth body, your sensual lips, your flowery scent, your silky voice.

Why did you leave me for him?

Am I Just Being Arrogant?

I checked my email today to see if anyone had remembered me. No one had apart from the usual single ladies who never seem to get the point that I am not interested in having a serious relationship with them. At first I thought if I signed my emails ’sincerely’ instead of ‘yours’, it would make a difference. No way! They still ’super glue.’ Now, I have decided I won’t reply to any of their emails or text messages. I had to throw away my mobile phone for the same reason. Whoever needs to see me knows where to find me.

It becomes worse when I go out with a lady and she expects me to be alone with her all the time. I love spending time with friends. Like when they come over to my house to watch a movie or do practice for our musical group. Sometimes they just come to chat or take me out for a party. My house is always full of people and most of them are friends both male and female and if a lady I am seeing does not get along with them, too bad for her. After all, there are a lot of fish in the sea. You see what I mean?

We all share the household chores but cooking is mostly done by the ladies. Sometimes my sisters and brothers join my friends and I during their holidays. There are times my Dad and step mom come and stay over and they are used to most of my friends as they have seen them growing up with me from way back when we were still in High School.

Every time I am not seeing someone, I always seem to be happier. I resent the idea of going out with a lady for some time and then the marriage issue comes up. Why do ladies like marriage? With all the misery and suffering I see my married friends going through, why would anyone die to get married? Some of them go as far as trying to invite me to meet their parents in the hope that this will help me quicken my decision to settle down. Others keep throwing hints in their conversations about their friends who are getting married.

I hate it when ladies begin comparing me with some of their male friends. ‘Chris, why can’t you be like Eric?’ I am not him. If you want Eric, then go ahead and marry him. See if I care.

Why should I rush to settle down when I can still have fun with my beautiful women out there? With some, I don’t even have to struggle. I have people who can cook and wash my clothes free of charge so what is the big deal? If I want children, I can get one with any of my lady friends and be a father. I mean, really. What is the big deal about marriage?

Why should I introduce a lady as my girlfriend and risk losing other potential girlfriends? Whoever I go out with is introduced as a friend. ‘Girlfriend’ creates unnecessary complications especially when you fail to commit yourself to a serious relationship.
